Motu Moana Scout Camp continued

The COPE coarse is amazing and I could just picture the head guys at BSA national talking about how dangerous this coarse is which would really mean, "insurance would cost us a fortune". Kids as young as 6 years old are allowed to participate on this coarse. The Zip Line that goes from the Abseiling Tower must be 25' off the ground and 400' long!

There are a number of campsites, one being a beautiful terraced site and probably the most unique for us Yanks would be the one in "under" the fern forest. There is also camping and picnicking down by the beach at Green Bay.

There are two living quarters which can be rented that are almost like being at home. The first is the Puketane, which has 14 bunk rooms which can sleep 54 people, fully equipped kitchen, hot showers, flush toilets, and a full laundry. The second is the Cub Hut, which has 7 bunks, can sleep 36 people, everything else the Puketane has as well as a drying room (for striping off wet, dirty clothes), activity hall, dining hall, and its own campfire circle. Both of these cost $8.50 per person per day (2007 prices).

This property also has the main Scouting Office and is where I caught the bud to collect New Zealand Scout Badges.
